This fruit, which seems to be a cross between a lemon and a bitter orange, is often used in perfumeries for its heady top notes. It is said to be relaxing and uplifting when inhaled.

Botanical name: Citrus bergamia

Origin: Italy

Extracted from: Peel

Aromatic molecules: Linalool, limonene, linalyl acetate

Aroma: Fruity and warm, more subtle than other citrus

 

Dosage:

Adults (≥ 18 years): Local topical application: Add 1 drop to 13 ml of neutral vegetable carrier oil and apply to affected area up to 3 times per day. Do not use essential oils undiluted.

Steam inhalation: Add 3-12 drops of undiluted essential oil to a bowl of steaming water or facial steamer. Inhale slowly and deeply for 5-10 minutes up to 3 times per day.

For occasional use only. Not for oral use. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes; if this happens, rinse thoroughly with vegetable oil. Store at room temperature.

A skin patch test is recommended for those with sensitive skin.
